haYashar Jasher 16

1 a:

At that time K'dar'la'omer (3540) one reigning of Eylam (5867) sent to all the neighboring ones reigning, to Nim'rod (5248), one reigning of Shin'ar (8152) who was then under his power, and to Tid'al (8413), one reigning of Goyim (1471), and to Ar'yokh (746), one reigning of Elasar (495), with whom he made a covenant, saying, Come up to me and assist me, that we may smite all the towns of S'dom (5467) and its inhabitants, for they have rebelled against me these thirteen years.

2 b:

And these four ones reigning went up with all their camps, about eight hundred thousand men, and they went as they were, and smote every man they found in their road.

3 g:

And the five ones reigning of S'dom (5467) and Amorah (6017), Shin'av (8134) one reigning of Ad'mah (126), Shemever (8038) one reigning of Ts'voyim (6636), Bera (854) one reigning of S'dom (5467), Bir'sha (1306) one reigning of Amorah (6017), and Bela (1106) one reigning of Tso'ar (6820), went out to meet them, and they all joined together in the valley of Sidim (7708).

4 d:

And these nine ones reigning made war in the valley of Sidim (7708); and the ones reigning of S'dom (5467) and Amorah (6017) were smitten before the ones reigning of Eylam (5867).

5 h:

And the valley of Sidim (7708) was full of lime pits and the ones reigning of Eylam (5867) pursued the ones reigning of S'dom (5467), and the ones reigning of S'dom (5467) with their camps fled and fell into the lime pits, and all that remained went to the mountain for safety, and the five ones reigning of Eylam (5867) came after them and pursued them to the gates of S'dom (5467), and they took all that there was in S'dom (5467).

6 w:

And they plundered all the cities of S'dom (5467) and Amorah (6017), and they also took Lot (3876), the son of the brother of Av'ram (87), and his property, and they seized all the goods of the cities of S'dom (5467), and they went away; and Unic, the servant of Av'ram (87), who was in the battle, saw this, and told Av'ram (87) all that the ones reigning had done to the cities of S'dom (5467), and that Lot (3876) was taken captive by them.

7 z:

And Av'ram (87) heard this, and he rose up with about three hundred and eighteen men that were with him, and he that night pursued these ones reigning and smote them, and they all fell before Av'ram (87) and his men, and there was none remaining but the four ones reigning who fled, and they went each his own road.

8 x:

And Av'ram (87) recovered all the property of S'dom (5467), and he also recovered Lot (3876) and his property, his wives and little ones and all belonging to him, so that Lot (3876) lacked nothing.

9 j:

And when he returned from smiting these ones reigning, he and his men passed the valley of Sidim (7708) where the ones reigning had made war together.

10 y:

And Bera (1298) one reigning of S'dom (5467), and the rest of his men that were with him, went out from the lime pits into which they had fallen, to meet Av'ram (87) and his men.

11 ay:

And Adoni Tsedeq (139) one reigning of Y'rushalaim (3389), the same was Shem (8035), went out with his men to meet Av'ram (87) and his people, with bread and wine, and they remained together in the valley of Melech.

12 by:

And Adoni Tsedeq (139) blessed Av'ram (87), and Av'ram (87) gave him a tenth from all that he had brought from the spoil of his enemies, for Adoni Tsedeq (139) was a priest before Elohim (430).

13 gy:

And all the ones reigning of S'dom (5467) and Amorah (6017) who were there, with their servants, approached Av'ram (87) and begged of him to return them their servants whom he had made captive, and to take unto himself all the property.

14 dy:

And Av'ram (87) answered the ones reigning of S'dom (5467), saying, As Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) liveth who created heaven and earth, and who redeemed my soul from all affliction, and who delivered me this day from my enemies, and gave them into my hand, I will not take anything belonging to you, that you may not boast tomorrow, saying, Av'ram (87) became rich from our property that he saved.

15 hj:

For Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) my Elohim (430) in whom I trust said unto me, Thou shalt lack nothing, for I will bless thee in all the works of thy hands.

16 wj:

And now therefore behold, here is all belonging to you, take it and go; as Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) liveth I will not take from you from a living soul down to a shoetie or thread, excepting the expense of the food of those who went out with me to battle, as also the portions of the men who went with me, Aner, Esh'kol (812), and Mam're (4471), they and their men, as well as those also who had remained to watch the baggage, they shall take their portion of the spoil.

17 zy:

And the ones reigning of S'dom (5467) gave Av'ram (87) according to all that he had said, and they pressed him to take of whatever he chose, but he would not.

18 xy:

And he sent away the ones reigning of S'dom (5467) and the remainder of their men, and he gave them orders about Lot (3876), and they went to their respective places.

19 jy:

And Lot (3876), his brother's son, he also sent away with his property, and he went with them, and Lot (3876) returned to his home, to S'dom (5467), and Av'ram (87) and his people returned to their home to the plains of Mam're (4471), which is in Chev'ron (2275).

20 k:

At that time Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) again appeared to Av'ram (87) in Chev'ron (2275), and he said to him, Do not fear, thy reward is very great before me, for I will not leave thee, until I shall have multiplied thee, and blessed thee and made thy seed like the stars in heaven, which cannot be measured nor numbered.

21 ak:

And I will give unto thy seed all these lands that thou seest with thine eyes, to them will I give them for an inheritance forever, only be strong and do not fear, walk before me and be perfect.

22 bk:

And in the seventy-eighth year of the life of Av'ram (87), in that year died R'u (7466), the son of Peleg (6389), and all the days of R'u (7466) were two hundred and thirty-nine years, and he died.

23 gk:

And Saray (8297), the daughter of Haran (2039), wife of Av'ram (87), was still barren in those days; she did not bear to Av'ram (87) either son or daughter.

24 dk:

And when she saw that she bare no children she took her handmaid Hagar (1904) (1904), whom Pharaoh had given her, and she gave her to Av'ram (87) her husband for a wife.

25 hk:

For Hagar (1904) (1904) learned all the ways of Saray (8297) as Saray (8297) taught her, she was not in any way deficient in following her good ways.

26 wk:

And Saray (8297) said to Av'ram (87), Behold here is my handmaid Hagar (1904) (1904), go to her that she may bring forth upon my knees, that I may also obtain children through her.

27 zk:

And at the end of ten years of the dwelling of Av'ram (87) in the land of K'na'an (3667), which is the eighty-fifth year of the life of Av'ram (87), Saray (8297) gave Hagar (1904) (1904) unto him.

28 xk:

And Av'ram (87) hearkened to the voice of his wife Saray (8297), and he took his handmaid Hagar (1904) (1904) and Av'ram (87) came to her and she conceived.

29 jk:

And when Hagar (1904) (1904) saw that she had conceived she rejoiced greatly, and her mistress was despised in her eyes, and she said within herself, This can only be that I am better before Elohim (430) than Saray (8297) my mistress, for all the days that my mistress has been with my lord, she did not conceive, but me Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) has caused in so short a time to conceive by him.

30 l:

And when Saray (8297) saw that Hagar (1904) (1904) had conceived by Av'ram (87), Saray (8297) was jealous of her handmaid, and Saray (8297) said within herself, This is surely nothing else but that she must be better than I am.

31 al:

And Saray (8297) said unto Av'ram (87), My wrong be upon thee, for at the time when thou didst pray before Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) for children why didst thou not pray on my account, that Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) should give me seed from thee?

32 bl:

And when I speak to Hagar (1904) (1904) in thy presence, she despises my words, because she has conceived, and thou wilt say nothing to her; may Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) judge between me and thee for what thou hast done to me.

33 gl:

And Av'ram (87) said to Saray (8297), Behold thy handmaid is in thy hand, do unto her as it may seem good in thy eyes; and Saray (8297) afflicted her, and Hagar (1904) (1904) fled from her to the wilderness.

34 dl:

And an angel of Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) found her in the place where she had fled, by a well, and he said to her, Do not fear, for I will multiply thy seed, for thou shalt bear a son and thou shalt call his name Yish'ma'el (3458); now then return to Saray (8297) thy mistress, and submit thyself under her hands.

35 hl:

And Hagar (1904) (1904) called the place of that well B'er laChay Ro'i (883), it is between Qadesh (6946) and the wilderness of Bered (1260).

36 wl:

And Hagar (1904) (1904) at that time returned to her master's house, and at the end of days Hagar (1904) (1904) bare a son to Av'ram (87), and Av'ram (87) called his name Yish'ma'el (3458); and Av'ram (87) was eighty-six years old when he begat him.
