haYashar Jasher 1
:And Elohim (430) said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness, and Elohim (430) created man in his own image.
:And Elohim (430) formed man from the ground, and he blew into his nostrils the breath of life, and man became a living soul endowed with speech.
:And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) said: It is not good for man to be alone; I will make unto him a helpmeet.
:And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam (120), and he slept, and he took away one of his ribs, and he built flesh upon it, and formed it and brought it to Adam (120), and Adam (120) awoke from his sleep, and behold a woman was standing before him.
:And he said, This is a bone of my bones and it shall be called woman, for this has been taken from man; and Adam (120) called her name Chavah (2332), for she was the mother of all living.
:And Elohim (430) blessed them and called their names Adam (120) and Chavah (2332) in the day that he created them, and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) said: Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth.
:And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) took Adam (120) and his wife, and he placed them in the garden of Eden (5731) to dress it and to keep it; and he charged them and said unto them, From every tree of the garden you may eat, but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die.
:And when Elohim (430) had blessed and charged them, he went from them, and Adam (120) and his wife dwelt in the garden according to the charge that Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) charged them.
:And the serpent, which Elohim (430) had created with them in the earth, came to them to incite them to transgress the charge of Elohim (430) that he charged them.
:And the serpent enticed and persuaded the woman to eat from the tree of knowledge, and the woman hearkened to the voice of the serpent, and she transgressed the word of Elohim (430), and took from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, and she ate, and she took from it and gave also to her husband and he ate.
:And Adam (120) and his wife transgressed the command of Elohim (430) which he commanded them, and Elohim (430) knew it, and his anger was kindled against them and he cursed them.
:And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) drove them that day from the garden of Eden (5731), to till the ground from which they were taken, and they went and dwelt at the east of the garden of Eden (5731); and Adam (120) knew his wife Chavah (2332) and she bore two sons and three daughters.
:And she called the name of the first born Qayin (7014), saying, I have obtained a man from Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), and the name of the other she called Hevel (1893), for she said, In vanity we came into the earth, and in vanity we shall be taken from it.
:And the boys grew up and their father gave them a possession in the land; and Qayin (7014) was a tiller of the ground, and Hevel (1893) a keeper of sheep.
:And it was at the expiration of a few years, that they brought an approximating offering to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), and Qayin (7014) brought from the fruit of the ground, and Hevel (1893) brought from the firstlings of his flock from the fat thereof, and Elohim (430) turned and inclined to Hevel (1893) and his offering, and a fire came down from Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) from heaven and consumed it.
:And unto Qayin (7014) and his offering Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) did not turn, and he did not incline to it, for he brought from the inferior fruit of the ground before Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), and Qayin (7014) was jealous against his brother Hevel (1893) on account of this, and he sought a pretext to slay him.
:And in some time after, Qayin (7014) and Hevel (1893) his brother, went one day into the field to do their work; and they were both in the field, Qayin (7014) tilling and ploughing his ground, and Hevel (1893) feeding his flock; and the flock passed that part which Qayin (7014) had ploughed in the ground, and it sorely grieved Qayin (7014) on this account.
:And Qayin (7014) approached his brother Hevel (1893) in anger, and he said unto him, What is there between me and thee, that thou comest to dwell and bring thy flock to feed in my land?
:And Hevel (1893) answered his brother Qayin (7014) and said unto him, What is there between me and thee, that thou shalt eat the flesh of my flock and clothe thyself with their wool?
:And now therefore, put off the wool of my sheep with which you clothed thyself, and recompense me for their fruit and flesh which you ate, and when you do this, I will then go from thy land as you said?
:And Qayin (7014) said to his brother Hevel (1893), Surely if I slay thee this day, who will require thy blood from me?
:And Hevel (1893) answered Qayin (7014), saying, Surely Elohim (430) who has made us in the earth, he will avenge my cause, and he will require my blood from thee shouldst thou slay me, for Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) is the judge and arbiter, and it is he who will requite man according to his evil, and the wicked man according to the wickedness that he does on earth.
:And now, if you slay me here, surely Elohim (430) knoweth your secret views, and will judge you for the evil which you did declare to do unto me this day.
:And when Qayin (7014) heard the words which Hevel (1893) his brother spoke, behold the anger of Qayin (7014) was kindled against his brother Hevel (1893) for declaring this thing.
:And Qayin (7014) hastened and rose up, and took the iron part of his ploughing instrument, with which he suddenly smote his brother and he slew him, and Qayin (7014) spilt the blood of his brother Hevel (1893) upon the earth, and the blood of Hevel (1893) streamed upon the earth before the flock.
:And after this Qayin (7014) repented of having slain his brother, and he was sadly grieved, and he wept over him and it vexed him exceedingly.
:And Qayin (7014) rose up and dug a hole in the field, wherein he put his brother's body, and he turned the dust over it.
:And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) knew what Qayin (7014) did to his brother, and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) appeared to Qayin (7014) and said to him, Where is Hevel (1893) your brother who was with you?
:And Qayin (7014) dissembled, and said, I do not know, am I my brother's keeper? And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) said unto him, What you did? The voice of your brother's blood cries to me from the ground where you slew him.
:For you slew your brother and dissembled before me, and did imagine in your heart that I saw you not, nor knew all your actions.
:And you did this thing and did slay your brother for naught and because he spoke rightly to thee, and now, therefore, cursed are you from the ground which opened its mouth to receive your brother's blood from your hand, and wherein you did bury him.
:And it shall be when you till it, it shall no more give you its strength as in the beginning, for thorns and thistles shall the ground produce, and you shalt be moving and wandering in the earth until the day of your death.
:And at that time Qayin (7014) went out from the presence of Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), from the place where he was, and he went moving and wandering in the land toward the east of Eden (5731), he and all belonging to him.
:And Qayin (7014) knew his wife in those days, and she conceived and bare a son, and he called his name Chanokh (2585), saying, In that time Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) began to give him rest and quiet in the earth.
:And at that time Qayin (7014) also began to build a city: and he built the city and he called the name of the city Chanokh (2585), according to the name of his son; for in those days Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) had given him rest upon the earth, and he did not move about and wander as in the beginning.
:And Irad (5897) was born to Chanokh (2585), and Irad (5897) begat M'chuya'el (4232) and M'chuya'el (4232) begat M'tusha'el (4967).
