haYashar Jasher 73

1 a:

In the fifty-fifth year of the reign of Pharaoh one reigning of Mits'rayim (4714), that is in the hundred and fifty-seventh year of Yis'ra'el (3478) going down into Mits'rayim (4714), reigned Mosheh (4872) in Kush (3568).

2 b:

Mosheh (4872) was twenty-seven years old when he began to reign over Kush (3568), and forty years did he reign.

3 g:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) granted Mosheh (4872) favor and grace in the eyes of all the sons of Kush (3568), and the sons of Kush (3568) loved him exceedingly, so Mosheh (4872) was favored by Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) and by men.

4 d:

And in the seventh day of his reign, all the sons of Kush (3568) assembled and came before Mosheh (4872) and bowed down to him to the ground.

5 h:

And all the sons spoke together in the presence of the one reigning, saying, Give us counsel that we may see what is to be done to this city.

6 w:

For it is now nine years that we have been besieging round about the city, and have not seen our sons and our wives.

7 z:

So the one reigning answered them, saying, If you will hearken to my voice in all that I shall command you, then will Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) give the city into our hands and we shall subdue it.

8 x:

For if we fight with them as in the former battle which we had with them before the death of Kikianus, many of us will fall down wounded as before.

9 j:

Now therefore behold here is counsel for you in this matter; if you will hearken to my voice, then will the city be delivered into our hands.

10 y:

So all the forces answered the one reigning, saying, All that our lord shall command that will we do.

11 ay:

And Mosheh (4872) said unto them, Pass through and proclaim a voice in the whole camp unto all the people, saying,

12 by:

Thus says the one reigning, Go into the forest and bring with you of the young ones of the stork, each man a young one in his hand.

13 gy:

And any person transgressing the word of the one reigning, who shall not bring his young one, he shall die, and the one reigning will take all belonging to him.

14 dy:

And when you shall bring them they shall be in your keeping, you shall rear them until they grow up, and you shall teach them to dart upon, as is the way of the young ones of the hawk.

15 hj:

So all the sons of Kush (3568) heard the words of Mosheh (4872), and they rose up and caused a proclamation to be issued throughout the camp, saying,

16 wj:

Unto you, all the sons of Kush (3568), the order of the one reigning is, that you go all together to the forest, and catch there the young storks each man his young one in his hand, and you shall bring them home.

17 zy:

And any person violating the order of the one reigning shall die, and the one reigning will take all that belongs to him.

18 xy:

And all the people did so, and they went out to the wood and they climbed the fir trees and caught, each man a young one in his hand, all the young of the storks, and they brought them into the desert and reared them by order of the one reigning, and they taught them to dart upon, similar to the young hawks.

19 jy:

And after the young storks were reared, the one reigning ordered them to be hungered for three days, and all the people did so.

20 k:

And on the third day, the one reigning said unto them, strengthen yourselves and become valiant men, and put on each man his armor and gird on his sword upon him, and ride each man his horse and take each his young stork in his hand.

21 ak:

And we will rise up and fight against the city at the place where the serpents are; and all the people did as the one reigning had ordered.

22 bk:

And they took each man his young one in his hand, and they went away, and when they came to the place of the serpents the one reigning said to them, Send forth each man his young stork upon the serpents.

23 gk:

And they sent forth each man his young stork at the order of the one reigning, and the young storks ran upon the serpents and they devoured them all and destroyed them out of that place.

24 dk:

And when the one reigning and people had seen that all the serpents were destroyed in that place, all the people set up a great shout.

25 hk:

And they approached and fought against the city and took it and subdued it, and they entered the city.

26 wk:

And there died on that day one thousand and one hundred men of the people of the city, all that inhabited the city, but of the people besieging not one died.

27 zk:

So all the sons of Kush (3568) went each to his home, to his wife and sons and to all belonging to him.

28 xk:

And Bil'am (1109) the magician, when he saw that the city was taken, he opened the gate and he and his two sons and eight brothers fled and returned to Mits'rayim (4714) to Pharaoh one reigning of Mits'rayim (4714).

29 jk:

They are the sorcerers and magicians who are mentioned in the book of the law, standing against Mosheh (4872) when Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) brought the plagues upon Mits'rayim (4714).

30 l:

So Mosheh (4872) took the city by his wisdom, and the sons of Kush (3568) placed him on the throne instead of Kikianus one reigning of Kush (3568).

31 al:

And they placed the royal crown upon his head, and they gave him for a wife Adoniah the Kushit (3568) queen, wife of Kikianus.

32 bl:

And Mosheh (4872) feared Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) Elohim (430) of his fathers, so that he came not to her, nor did he turn his eyes to her.

33 gl:

For Mosheh (4872) remembered how Av'raham (85) had made his servant Eli'ezer (461) swear, saying unto him, Thou shalt not take a woman from the daughters of K'na'an (3667) for my son Yits'chaq (3327).

34 dl:

Also what Yits'chaq (3327) did when Ya'aqov (3290) had fled from his brother, when he commanded him, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife from the daughters of K'na'an (3667), nor make alliance with any of the sons of Cham (2526).

35 hl:

For Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) our Elohim (430) gave Cham (2526) the son of No'ach (5146), and his sons and all his seed, as slaves to the sons of Shem (8035) and to the sons of Yephet (3315), and unto their seed after them for slaves, forever.

36 wl:

Therefore Mosheh (4872) turned not his heart nor his eyes to the wife of Kikianus all the days that he reigned over Kush (3568).

37 zl:

And Mosheh (4872) feared Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) his Elohim (430) all his life, and Mosheh (4872) walked before Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) in truth, with all his heart and soul, he turned not from the right way all the days of his life; he declined not from the way either to the right or to the left, in which Av'raham (85), Yits'chaq (3327) and Ya'aqov (3290) had walked.

38 xl:

And Mosheh (4872) strengthened himself in the kingdom of the sons of Kush (3568), and he guided the sons of Kush (3568) with his usual wisdom, and Mosheh (4872) prospered in his kingdom.

39 jl:

And at that time Aram (758) and the sons of the east heard that Kikianus one reigning of Kush (3568) had died, so Aram (758) and the sons of the east rebelled against Kush (3568) in those days.

40 m:

And Mosheh (4872) gathered all the sons of Kush (3568), a people very mighty, about thirty thousand men, and he went forth to fight with Aram (758) and the sons of the east.

41 am:

And they went at first to the sons of the east, and when the sons of the east heard their report, they went to meet them, and engaged in battle with them.

42 bm:

And the war was severe against the sons of the east, so Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) gave all the sons of the east into the hand of Mosheh (4872), and about three hundred men fell down slain.

43 gm:

And all the sons of the east turned back and retreated, so Mosheh (4872) and the sons of Kush (3568) followed them and subdued them, and put a tax upon them, as was their custom.

44 dm:

So Mosheh (4872) and all the people with him passed from there to the land of Aram (758) for battle.

45 hm:

And the people of Aram (758) also went to meet them, and they fought against them, and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) delivered them into the hand of Mosheh (4872), and many of the men of Aram (758) fell down wounded.

46 wm:

And Aram (758) also were subdued by Mosheh (4872) and the people of Kush (3568), and also gave their usual tax.

47 zm:

And Mosheh (4872) brought Aram (758) and the sons of the east under subjection to the sons of Kush (3568), and Mosheh (4872) and all the people who were with him, turned to the land of Kush (3568).

48 xm:

And Mosheh (4872) strengthened himself in the kingdom of the sons of Kush (3568), and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) was with him, and all the sons of Kush (3568) were afraid of him.
