haYashar Jasher 81

1 a:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) journeyed from Ra'm'ses (7406) to Sukot (5523), about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides the little ones and their wives.

2 b:

Also a mixed multitude went up with them, and flocks and herds, even much cattle.

3 g:

And the sojourning of the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), who dwelt in the land of Mits'rayim (4714) in hard labor, was two hundred and ten years.

4 d:

And at the end of two hundred and ten years, Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) brought forth the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) from Mits'rayim (4714) with a strong hand.

5 h:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) traveled from Mits'rayim (4714) and from Goshen (1657) and from Ra'm'ses (7406), and encamped in Sukot (5523) on the fifteenth day of the first month.

6 w:

And Mits'rayim (4714) buried all their first born whom Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) had smitten, and all Mits'rayim (4714) buried their slain for three days.

7 z:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) traveled from Sukot (5523) and encamped in Etam (864), at the end of the wilderness.

8 x:

And on the third day after Mits'rayim (4714) had buried their first born, many men rose up from Mits'rayim (4714) and went after Yis'ra'el (3478) to make them return to Mits'rayim (4714), for they repented that they had sent Yis'ra'el (3478) away from their servitude.

9 j:

And one man said to his neighbor, Surely Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175) spoke to Pharaoh, saying, We will go a three days' journey in the wilderness and sacrifice to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) our Elohim (430).

10 y:

Now therefore let us rise up early in the morning and cause them to return, and it shall be that if they return with us to Mits'rayim (4714) to their masters, then shall we know that there is faith in them, but if they will not return, then will we fight with them, and make them come back with great power and a strong hand.

11 ay:

And all the nobles of Pharaoh rose up in the morning, and with them about seven hundred thousand men, and they went forth from Mits'rayim (4714) on that day, and came to the place where the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) were.

12 by:

And all Mits'rayim (4714) saw and behold Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175) and all the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) were sitting before Pi haChirot (6367), eating and drinking and celebrating the feast of Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430).

13 gy:

And all Mits'rayim (4714) said to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), Surely you said, We will go a journey for three days in the wilderness and sacrifice to our Elohim (430) and return.

14 dy:

Now therefore this day makes five days since you went, why do you not return to your masters?

15 hj:

And Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175) answered them, saying, Because Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) our Elohim (430) has testified in us, saying, You shall no more return to Mits'rayim (4714), but we will betake ourselves to a land flowing with milk and honey, as Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) our Elohim (430) had sworn to our ancestors to give to us.

16 wj:

And when the nobles of Mits'rayim (4714) saw that the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) did not hearken to them, to return to Mits'rayim (4714), they girded themselves to fight with Yis'ra'el (3478).

17 zy:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) strengthened the hearts of the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) over Mits'rayim (4714), that they gave them a severe beating, and the battle was sore upon Mits'rayim (4714), and all Mits'rayim (4714) fled from before the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), for many of them perished by the hand of Yis'ra'el (3478).

18 xy:

And the nobles of Pharaoh went to Mits'rayim (4714) and told Pharaoh, saying, The sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) have fled, and will no more return to Mits'rayim (4714), and in this manner did Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175) speak to us.

19 jy:

And Pharaoh heard this thing, and his heart and the hearts of all his subjects were turned against Yis'ra'el (3478), and they repented that they had sent Yis'ra'el (3478); and all Mits'rayim (4714) advised Pharaoh to pursue the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) to make them come back to their burdens.

20 k:

And they said each man to his brother, What is this which we have done, that we have sent Yis'ra'el (3478) from our servitude?

21 ak:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) strengthened the hearts of all Mits'rayim (4714) to pursue Yis'ra'el (3478), for Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) desired to overthrow Mits'rayim (4714) in the Red Sea.

22 bk:

And Pharaoh rose up and harnessed his chariot, and he ordered all Mits'rayim (4714) to assemble, not one man was left excepting the little ones and the women.

23 gk:

And all Mits'rayim (4714) went forth with Pharaoh to pursue the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), and the camp of Mits'rayim (4714) was an exceedingly large and heavy camp, about ten hundred thousand men.

24 dk:

And the whole of this camp went and pursued the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) to bring them back to Mits'rayim (4714), and they reached them encamping by the Red Sea.

25 hk:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) lifted up their eyes, and beheld all Mits'rayim (4714) pursuing them, and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) were greatly terrified at them, and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) cried to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430).

26 wk:

And on account of Mits'rayim (4714), the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) divided themselves into four divisions, and they were divided in their opinions, for they were afraid of Mits'rayim (4714), and Mosheh (4872) spoke to each of them.

27 zk:

The first division was of the sons of R'uven (7205), Shim'on (8095), and Yisaskhar (3485), and they resolved to cast themselves into the sea, for they were exceedingly afraid of Mits'rayim (4714).

28 xk:

And Mosheh (4872) said to them, Fear not, stand still and see the salvation of Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) which He will effect this day for you.

29 jk:

The second division was of the sons of Z'vulun (2074), Bin'yamin (1144) and Naph'tali (5321), and they resolved to go back to Mits'rayim (4714) with Mits'rayim (4714).

30 l:

And Mosheh (4872) said to them, Fear not, for as you have seen Mits'rayim (4714) this day, so shall you see them no more for ever.

31 al:

The third division was of the sons of Y'hudah (3063) and Yoseph (3130), and they resolved to go to meet Mits'rayim (4714) to fight with them.

32 bl:

And Mosheh (4872) said to them, Stand in your places, for Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) will fight for you, and you shall remain silent.

33 gl:

And the fourth division was of the sons of Levi (3878), Gad (1410), and Asher (836), and they resolved to go into the midst of Mits'rayim (4714) to confound them, and Mosheh (4872) said to them, Remain in your stations and fear not, only call unto Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) that he may save you out of their hands.

34 dl:

After this Mosheh (4872) rose up from amidst the people, and he prayed to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) and said,

35 hl:

Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) of the whole earth, save now thy people whom thou didst bring forth from Mits'rayim (4714), and let not Mits'rayim (4714) boast that power and might are theirs.

36 wl:

So Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) said to Mosheh (4872), Why dost thou cry unto me? speak to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) that they shall proceed, and do thou stretch out thy rod upon the sea and divide it, and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) shall pass through it.

37 zl:

And Mosheh (4872) did so, and he lifted up his rod upon the sea and divided it.

38 xl:

And the waters of the sea were divided into twelve parts, and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) passed through on foot, with shoes, as a man would pass through a prepared road.

39 jl:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) manifested to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) his wonders in Mits'rayim (4714) and in the sea by the hand of Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175).

40 m:

And when the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) had entered the sea, Mits'rayim (4714) came after them, and the waters of the sea resumed upon them, and they all sank in the water, and not one man was left excepting Pharaoh, who gave thanks to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) and believed in him, therefore Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) did not cause him to perish at that time with Mits'rayim (4714).

41 am:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) ordered an angel to take him from amongst Mits'rayim (4714), who cast him upon the land of Nin'veh (5210) and he reigned over it for a long time.

42 bm:

And on that day Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) saved Yis'ra'el (3478) from the hand of Mits'rayim (4714), and all the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) saw that Mits'rayim (4714) had perished, and they beheld the great hand of Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), in what he had performed in Mits'rayim (4714) and in the sea.

43 gm:

Then sang Mosheh (4872) and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) this song unto Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430), on the day when Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) caused Mits'rayim (4714) to fall before them.

44 dm:

And all Yis'ra'el (3478) sang in concert, saying, I will sing to Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) for He is greatly exalted, the horse and his rider has he cast into the sea; behold it is written in the book of the law of Elohim (430).

45 hm:

After this the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) proceeded on their journey, and encamped in Marah (4785), and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) gave to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) statutes and judgments in that place in Marah (4785), and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) commanded the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) to walk in all his ways and to serve him.

46 wm:

And they journeyed from Marah (4785) and came to Eylim (362), and in Eylim (362) were twelve springs of water and seventy date trees, and the sons encamped there by the waters.

47 zm:

And they journeyed from Eylim (362) and came to the wilderness of Sin, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from Mits'rayim (4714).

48 xm:

At that time Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) gave the manna to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) to eat, and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) caused food to rain from heaven for the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) day by day.

49 jm:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) ate the manna for forty years, all the days that they were in the wilderness, until they came to the land of K'na'an (3667) to possess it.

50 n:

And they proceeded from the wilderness of Sin and encamped in Alush (442).

51 an:

And they proceeded from Alush (442) and encamped in R'phidim (7508).

52 bn:

And when the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) were in R'phidim (7508), Amaleq (6002) the son of Eliphaz (464), the son of Esav (6215), the brother of Ts'pho (6825), came to fight with Yis'ra'el (3478).

53 gn:

And he brought with him eight hundred and one thousand men, magicians and conjurers, and he prepared for battle with Yis'ra'el (3478) in R'phidim (7508).

54 dn:

And they carried on a great and severe battle against Yis'ra'el (3478), and Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) delivered Amaleq (6002) and his people into the hands of Mosheh (4872) and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), and into the hand of Y'hoshu'a (3091), the son of Nun (5126), the Eph'rat (672)i, the servant of Mosheh (4872).

55 hn:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) smote Amaleq (6002) and his people at the edge of the sword, but the battle was very sore upon the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478).

56 wn:

And Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) said to Mosheh (4872), Write this thing as a memorial for thee in a book, and place it in the hand of Y'hoshu'a (3091), the son of Nun (5126), thy servant, and thou shalt command the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), saying, When thou shalt come to the land of K'na'an (3667), thou shalt utterly efface the remembrance of Amaleq (6002) from under heaven.

57 zn:

And Mosheh (4872) did so, and he took the book and wrote upon it these words, saying,

58 xn:

Remember what Amaleq (6002) has done to thee in the road when thou wentest forth from Mits'rayim (4714).

59 jn:

Who met thee in the road and smote thy rear, even those that were feeble behind thee when thou wast faint and weary.

60 s:

Therefore it shall be when Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) thy Elohim (430) shall have given thee rest from all thine enemies round about in the land which Y'hovah (3068) Elohim (430) thy Elohim (430) giveth thee for an inheritance, to possess it, that thou shalt blot out the remembrance of Amaleq (6002) from under heaven, thou shalt not forget it.

61 as:

And the king who shall have pity on Amaleq (6002), or upon his memory or upon his seed, behold I will require it of him, and I will cut him off from amongst his people.

62 bs:

And Mosheh (4872) wrote all these things in a book, and he enjoined the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) respecting all these matters.
