haYashar Jasher 84

1 a:

At that time Qorach (7141) the son of Yits'har (3324) the son of Q'hat (6955) the son of Levi (3878), took many men of the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), and they rose up and quarreled with Mosheh (4872) and Aharon (175) and the whole congregation.

2 b:

And Y'hovah (3068) was angry with them, and the earth opened its mouth, and swallowed them up, with their houses and all belonging to them, and all the men belonging to Qorach (7141).

3 g:

And after this Elohim (430) made the people go round by the way of Mount Se'ir (8165) for a long time.

4 d:

At that time Y'hovah (3068) said unto Mosheh (4872), Provoke not a war against the children of Esav (6215), for I will not give to you of any thing belonging to them, as much as the sole of the foot could tread upon, for I have given Mount Se'ir (8165) for an inheritance to Esav (6215).

5 h:

Therefore did the children of Esav (6215) fight against the children of Se'ir (8165) in former times, and Y'hovah (3068) delivered the children of Se'ir (8165) into the hands of the children of Esav (6215), and destroyed them from before them, and the children of Esav (6215) dwelt in their stead unto this day.

6 w:

Therefore Y'hovah (3068) said to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), Fight not against the children of Esav (6215) your brethren, for nothing in their land belongs to you, but you may buy food of them for money and eat it, and you may buy water of them for money and drink it.

7 z:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) did according to the word of Y'hovah (3068).

8 x:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) went about the wilderness, going round by the way of Mount Sinay (5514) for a long time, and touched not the children of Esav (6215), and they continued in that district for nineteen years.

9 j:

At that time died Latinus one reigning of the children of Kitim (3794), in the forty-fifth year of his reign, which is the fourteenth year of the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) departure from Mits'rayim (4714).

10 y:

And they buried him in his place which he had built for himself in the land of Kitim (3794), and Abimnas reigned in his place for thirty-eight years.

11 ay:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) passed the boundary of the children of Esav (6215) in those days, at the end of nineteen years, and they came and passed the road of the wilderness of Mo'av (4124).

12 by:

And Y'hovah (3068) said to Mosheh (4872), besiege not Mo'av (4124), and do not fight against them, for I will give you nothing of their land.

13 gy:

And the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) passed the road of the wilderness of Mo'av (4124) for nineteen years, and they did not fight against them.

14 dy:

And in the thirty-sixth year of the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) departing from Mits'rayim (4714) Y'hovah (3068) smote the heart of Sichon (5511), one reigning of the Emori (567), and he waged war, and went forth to fight against the children of Mo'av (4124).

15 hj:

And Sichon (5511) sent messengers to B'or (1160) the son of Janeas, the son of Bil'am (1109), counsellor to the one reigning of Mits'rayim (4714), and to Bil'am (1109) his son, to curse Mo'av (4124), in order that it might be delivered into the hand of Sichon (5511).

16 wj:

And the messengers went and brought B'or (1160) the son of Janeas, and Bil'am (1109) his son, from P'tor (6604) in Mesopotamia, so B'or (1160) and Bil'am (1109) his son came to the city of Sichon (5511) and they cursed Mo'av (4124) and their king in the presence of Sichon (5511) one reigning of the Emori (567).

17 zy:

So Sichon (5511) went out with his whole army, and he went to Mo'av (4124) and fought against them, and he subdued them, and Y'hovah (3068) delivered them into his hands, and Sichon (5511) slew the king of Mo'av (4124).

18 xy:

And Sichon (5511) took all the cities of Mo'av (4124) in the battle; he also took Cheshbon (2809) from them, for Cheshbon (2809) was one of the cities of Mo'av (4124), and Sichon (5511) placed his princes and his nobles in Cheshbon (2809), and Cheshbon (2809) belonged to Sichon (5511) in those days.

19 jy:

Therefore the parable speakers B'or (1160) and Bil'am (1109) his son uttered these words, saying, Come unto Cheshbon (2809), the city of Sichon (5511) will be built and established.

20 k:

Woe unto thee Mo'av (4124)! thou art lost, O people of K'mosh (3645)! behold it is written upon the book of the law of Elohim (430).

21 ak:

And when Sichon (5511) had conquered Mo'av (4124), he placed guards in the cities which he had taken from Mo'av (4124), and a considerable number of the children of Mo'av (4124) fell in battle into the hand of Sichon (5511), and he made a great capture of them, sons and daughters, and he slew their king; so Sichon (5511) turned back to his own land.

22 bk:

And Sichon (5511) gave numerous presents of silver and gold to B'or (1160) and Bil'am (1109) his son, and he dismissed them, and they went to Mesopotamia to their home and country.

23 gk:

At that time all the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) passed from the road of the wilderness of Mo'av (4124), and returned and surrounded the wilderness of Edom (123).

24 dk:

So the whole congregation came to the wilderness of Sin in the first month of the fortieth year from their departure from Mits'rayim (4714), and the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) dwelt there in Qadesh (6946), of the wilderness of Tsin (6790), and Mir'yam (4813) died there and she was buried there.

25 hk:

At that time Mosheh (4872) sent messengers to Hadad (1908) one reigning of Edom (123), saying, Thus says thy brother Yis'ra'el (3478), Let me pass I pray thee through thy land, we will not pass through field or vineyard, we will not drink the water of the well; we will walk in the king's road.

26 wk:

And Edom (123) said to him, Thou shalt not pass through my country, and Edom (123) went forth to meet the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) with a mighty people.

27 zk:

And the children of Esav (6215) refused to let the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) pass through their land, so the Yis'ra'eli (3478) removed from them and fought not against them.

28 xk:

For before this Y'hovah (3068) had commanded the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478), saying, You shall not fight against the children of Esav (6215), therefore the Yis'ra'eli (3478) removed from them and did not fight against them.

29 jk:

So the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) departed from Qadesh (6946), and all the people came to Mount Hor (2029).

30 l:

At that time Y'hovah (3068) said to Mosheh (4872), Tell thy brother Aharon (175) that he shall die there, for he shall not come to the land which I have given to the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478).

31 al:

And Aharon (175) went up, at the command of Y'hovah (3068), to Mount Hor (2029), in the fortieth year, in the fifth month, in the first day of the month.

32 bl:

And Aharon (175) was one hundred and twenty-three years old when he died in Mount Hor (2029).
