Yovel Jubilees 34

1 a:

And in the sixth year of this week of this forty-fourth jubilee [2148 A.M.] Ya'aqov (3290) sent his sons to pasture their sheep, and his servants with them to the pastures of Sh'khem (7927).

2 b:

And the seven kings of the Emori (567) assembled themselves together against them, to slay them, hiding themselves under the trees, and to take their cattle as a prey.

3 g:

And Ya'aqov (3290) and Levi (3878) and Y'hudah (3063) and Yoseph (3130) were in the house with Yits'chaq (3327) their father; for his spirit was sorrowful, and they could not leave him: and Bin'yamin (1144) was the youngest, and for this reason remained with his father.

4 d:

And there came the king[s] of Taphu and the king[s] of 'Aresa, and the king[s] of Seragan, and the king[s] of Selo, and the king[s] of Ga'as, and the one reigning of Bethoron, and the one reigning of Ma'anisakir, and all those who dwell in these mountains (and) who dwell in the woods in the land of K'na'an (3667).

5 h:

And they announced this to Ya'aqov (3290) saying: 'Behold, the kings of the Emori (567) have surrounded thy sons, and plundered their herds.'

6 w:

And he arose from his house, he and his three sons and all the servants of his father, and his own servants, and he went against them with six thousand men, who carried swords.

7 z:

And he slew them in the pastures of Sh'khem (7927), and pursued those who fled, and he slew them with the edge of the sword, and he slew 'Aresa and Taphu and Saregan and Selo and 'Amani- sakir and Ga[ga]'as, and he recovered his herds.

8 x:

And he prevailed over them, and imposed tribute on them that they should pay him tribute, five fruit products of their land, and he built Robel and Tamnatares.

9 j:

And he returned in peace, and made peace with them, and they became his servants, until the day that he and his sons went down into Mits'rayim (4714).

10 y:

And in the seventh year of this week [2149 A.M.] he sent Yoseph (3130) to learn about the welfare of his brothers from his house to the land of Sh'khem (7927), and he found them in the land of Dotan (1886).

11 ay:

And they dealt treacherously with him, and formed a plot against him to slay him, but changing their minds, they sold him to Yish'ma'el (3458)ite merchants, and they brought him down into Mits'rayim (4714), and they sold him to Potiphar (6318), the eunuch of Pharaoh, the chief of the cooks, priest of the city of 'Elew.

12 by:

And the sons of Ya'aqov (3290) slaughtered a kid, and dipped the coat of Yoseph (3130) in the blood, and sent (it) to Ya'aqov (3290) their father on the tenth of the seventh month.

13 gy:

And he mourned all that night, for they had brought it to him in the evening, and he became feverish with mourning for his death, and he said: 'An evil beast hath devoured Yoseph (3130)'; and all the members of his house [mourned with him that day, and they] were grieving and mourning with him all that day.

14 dy:

And his sons and his daughter rose up to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted for his son.

15 hj:

And on that day Bil'hah (1090) heard that Yoseph (3130) had perished, and she died mourning him, and she was living in Qafratef, and Dinah (1783) also, his daughter, died after Yoseph (3130) had perished.

16 wj:

And there came these three mournings upon Yis'ra'el (3478) in one month. And they buried Bil'hah (1090) over against the tomb of Rachel (7354), and Dinah (1783) also. his daughter, they buried there.

17 zy:

And he mourned for Yoseph (3130) one year, and did not cease, for he said 'Let me go down to the grave mourning for my son'.

18 xy:

For this reason it is ordained for the sons of Yis'ra'el (3478) that they should afflict themselves on the tenth of the seventh month -on the day that the news which made him weep for Yoseph (3130) came to Ya'aqov (3290) his father- that they should make atonement for themselves thereon with a young goat on the tenth of the seventh month, once a year, for their sins; for they had grieved the affection of their father regarding Yoseph (3130) his son.

19 jy:

And this day has been ordained that they should grieve thereon for their sins, and for all their transgressions and for all their errors, so that they might cleanse themselves on that day once a year.

20 k:

And after Yoseph (3130) perished, the sons of Ya'aqov (3290) took unto themselves wives.
